Welcome to the Oikawa Lab!

The Oikawa lab started in 2003 at Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Engineering, Kansai University. From 2008, Tadao Oikawa became a professor of Department of Life Science & Technology, Faculty of Chemistry, Materials and Biotechnology, Kansai University. The previous head of this laboratory was held by Dr. Kenji Soda (Prof. emeritus of Kyoto University) from 2001-2008. The Oikawa lab. is a member of Department of Life Science & Technology, Faculty of Chemistry, Materials and Biotechnology and Graduate School of Science and Technology, Kansai University. The Oikawa lab. is in the research field of Enzyme Science and Technology.

The major research projects are

  • Enzymatic characterization of amino acid-metabolizing enzymes from hyperthermophile, Coryne-form bacteria, lactic acid bacteria and other microorganisms.
  • Quantitative analysis of D-amino acid content in food.
  • Development of novel D-amino acid-containing functional food.
